I really wish if I can have supply lines, I could also just hand someone a list of stuff I need and they do the shopping for me instead of every now and then stock up on purified water and travel the old Vault 81 -> Diamond City -> Goodneighbor -> Prydwynn -> Bunker Hill vendor tour to buy every bit of Junk and shipment I might need myself. While it looks good and is fun during defenses, getting the armors and weapons build up in bulk for every settlement cost me a ♥♥♥♥ ton of Adhesive and other materials.
While regular settlers rather get a modded Institute Rifle as standard weapon. For example: I like to have 3-5 guards in a settlement, dressed in appropriate Combat Armor and equipped with modded Plasma Rifles. it can be a tedious act to build up settlements. The idea of supply lines and building the Commonwealth up for the Minutemen is pretty good. Building your own 'home' and decorate it like you want is a real improvement over older Fallout titles were you just find a fast travel spot that looks decent and can be used to drop all your hoarded stuff in random containers. And when some people really raise the bar, it actually can look impressive. It looks better if they look 'lived in' with settlers doing their tasks or sitting around together on some tables. Building settlements can be fun and rewarding
